ADVANCE COPIES ARE IN - For Real!

It's the moment you think can only be something that happens in a dream or to somebody else: the day your book comes through the door and your name is there on the front cover and there again on the spine and there yet again in the blurb on the back.

Wasn't expecting to see mine ever. Then when Floris agreed to publish this I was told to expect to see a copy around mid-August. The launch date is not until Sept 10th... so, getting a squint at it so soon is just fantastic.

Feels very strange, and wonderful, and like I am just dreaming.

ANOTHER HIT in the HEMINGWAY COMPETITION

For the second year in a row I have an honourable mention in the Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition. Success in competitions on the other side of the pond are really exciting. This year almost 1100 entries and my story called 'The Piano Tuner At The End of The World' gets a mention. Last year I did just as well with 'An Iquitos Story'.

Fab!

WHEN STARS FALL

Just had a flash fiction piece called 'Leaning Towards Father Cuthbert' published by Falling Star Magazine. And they pay! I got them to donate my earnings to a local children's charity. It seems that the arts in California are undergoing some sort of budget crisis. Inner city schools are making applications for pencils so that children can participate in drawing activities! Those nice people at Falling Star have donated my $60 to a charity that is helping make sure that children have access to basic art materials - better than me giving a big chunk of the money to the bank in the transfer from dollars to pounds.
